Start with one person’s daily question

I built Hindu Timings for my father. Existing calendar apps did not match the way he wanted to check daily auspicious-time information, so I made a focused app for that need.

The Today view brings the current timing and daily timeline together. Separate views hold lunar events, eclipses and festivals. Timing and event names can switch between English and Kannada; descriptions remain in English.

Make checking a timing a glance

Home Screen widgets show timing information without opening the app. Selected warnings appear through Live Activities on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, with a setting to turn them off.

The Apple Watch companion offers current timings, a daily timeline and lunar events, alongside watch widgets and complications.

Smaller views bring the current timing closer to where it is checked.

Keep the calendar consistent across screens

The app bundles calendar data for offline access and uses Indian Standard Time. A shared calculator prepares the information used by the app and its widgets.

Recurring weekday periods and dated lunar events need different handling. Keeping those rules in one place helps the smaller views follow the same calendar as the main app.
